PDF to Word

PDF to Word extracts the text from your PDF and rebuilds it as an editable .docx document, with paragraphs and headings recovered from the page layout. It runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded anywhere.

Sometimes all you need is the text of a PDF in a form you can edit: a policy you want to reword, a form letter, an old résumé with no source file. This tool reads the text layer of the PDF, works out which words belong on the same line, groups lines into paragraphs by the space between them, and treats noticeably larger text as headings. Page breaks are kept, so the Word file follows the original page order.

It is honest to say what to expect. PDF is a page-description format, not a document format, so rebuilding a perfect Word file is hard for any tool. Simple text documents (letters, articles, reports) convert well. Tables, multi-column layouts, images and precise positioning are not preserved; you get the words, not the design.

Scanned PDFs, where each page is a photograph of paper, contain no text to extract, and this tool will tell you so instead of producing an empty file. Those need OCR (text recognition) software, which this tool does not include.

Because everything runs locally, confidential documents such as contracts, medical letters or ID paperwork stay on your device.
